Li Ying is a Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor at Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology. He is awarded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is the Chief Scientist of the National Key Research and Development Program and the Basic Research Strengthening Project.

He serves as Deputy Director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Lightweight Multifunctional Composite Materials and Structures, Research Department Director of the National Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology, Director of the Joint Laboratory for Advanced Structural Technology of Spacecraft, Deputy Head of the Underwater Explosion Dynamics Professional Group of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board/youth editorial board for more than 10 journals.


He is mainly engaged in research on explosive and impact dynamics, design of unconventional mechanical materials. He hosts more than 40 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Key Research and Development Program. He has published one academic monograph, and has authored over 100 SCI papers in top-tier journals such as Adv. Sci., JMPS, ACS NANO, IJIE, including several cover papers and ESI highly cited papers. He holds over 40 invention patents and has participated in the compilation of a number of relevant industry standards.
