Dr. Ge Jingran is an Associate Professor in Mechanics of Composite Materials, at Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology. He is currently the vice chairman of the Composite Structure Design Committee of China Composite Materials Society and the member of the ceramic matrix Composite Materials Branch of China Composite Materials Society.

He is mainly engaged in damage mechanics of braided composite materials, characterization and evaluation methods of protective composite materials. He has achieved the following major innovative achievements:
​the digital characterization method for the variation features of fiber bundles in preform such as shape and path, and the interaction mechanism between local damage and mesostructure was revealed.
the fatigue strengthening effect and sudden drop mechanism of the properties of braided composites under cyclic loading with local variable amplitude were expounded, and the variation of hysteresis curve and damage evolution of composites with loading cycles was obtained.
the integrated method of forming process simulation and efficient multi-scale cluster analysis for special-shaped structure was proposed, and the influence of process parameters on the internal mesostructure and mechanical properties of the special-shaped structures was revealed. The research achievements have been applied in the project development.
