Dr. Dong Hao-Wen is an Associate Professor in Wave Mechanics, at Institute of Advanced Structure Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology.
He received his bachelor's degree in Engineering Mechanics from Shijiazhuang Tiedao University of PR China in 2010. He completed his PhD in solid mechanics at Being Jiaotong University (2010-2017), working on topology optimization of phononic metamaterials during his PhD collaborating with several renowned experts on wave mechanics, acoustic metamaterials and structural optimization, including Prof. Yue-Sheng Wang, Prof. Li Cheng, Prof. Chuanzeng Zhang, Prof. Ole Sigmund and Prof. Steven A. Cummer. During and after doctorate period, he visited University of Siegen (2014-2016), Technical University of Denmark (2015) and worked as a postdoctor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2018-2020). He has been engaged in long-term research on wave dynamics of elastic wave/acoustic metamaterials, intelligent inverse design and applications, as well as vibration and noise control of equipment structures.
He has presided over more than 10 projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation's Original Exploration Plan, General Program, Youth Fund, Postdoctoral Fund, and commissioned projects. As the first/corresponding author, he has published over 30 SCI papers (with 1 ESI highly cited paper) in top journals such as J. Mech. Phys. Solids, Natl. Sci. Rev., Mater. Today, Appl. Phys. Rev., and Acta Mater. in the fields of mechanics, comprehensive, physics, and materials. His papers have been recognized with awards such as "Most Cited Paper", "Featured in Physics", "Featured Article", "Inside Cover", and "Highly Noted Academic Achievements in Beijing", and his achievements have been reported and reprinted by more than 20 domestic and foreign media. He was selected for the top 2% of the world's leading scientists in 2023. He has won the Outstanding PhD Award from Beijing Jiaotong University and the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and was included in the "Hong Kong Scholar" program. He currently serves as a member of the first Wave Dynamics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, a young director of the Metamaterials Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society, and a reviewer for more than 50 international journals including PNAS, JMPS, AM and CMAME, etc.
